Information Surfaces About the Wii U’s Backward Compatability

We all have been searching high and low for information about which of our old titles we will be able to play on our new Wii Us. Well, according to the United Kingdom’s magazine Retro Gamer, there is good news and bad news, and then more good news. So, let’s have a little bad news sandwich with good news bread, shall we? Good news #1: The Wii U will be capable of running Wii titles, which I know you are all excited about. I mean, who wants to have both a Wii and Wii U hooked up and transfer controllers every time, or end up putting your extensive Wii game collection in a cupboard somewhere? No, we can’t be having that, can we? Moving on to the bad news: the Wii U will not be equipped with the ability to play GameCube discs, which is truly too bad. I will surely miss those tiny little discs. But fear not, fellow gamers! For good news #2 is a redeeming factor: The Wii U will also feature Virtual Console GameCube games. This is great news to gamers like me that were maybe just a bit too rough on their old copies of games and became very familiar with the GameCube error screen, as it means we can now get those games back in virtual form! The only question is, how will we play these games? It does not seem that the Wii U will have GameCube controller ports, so we will most likely get stuck with buying a very expensive separate controller to play these games in their close-to-original forms. What GameCube titles are you looking forward to downloading?
