Sony: PS3 + Vita Already Does What Nintendo Wii U Offers

After Nintendo announced the Wii U at E3 2011, Microsoft and Sony scrambled to make something that could potentially stand up to the upcoming system.  In response to Wii U, Microsoft is making Xbox Smart Glass (connects your mobile devices to your 360), and Sony announced “Cross Play”, which lets you use your PlayStation Vita as a second screen to your PS3.  Sony has made the absolutely ridiculous statement that with “Cross Play”, you can do all the same stuff possible on Wii U.  I don’t need to spend hours explaining why this is total bull crap.

What I will say, is that nobody can really prove that their product is better until it’s released to consumers.  The fact that the Wii U is completely sold out at GameStop should count for something though.  Also, if you wanted to use Sony’s “Cross Play”, you’d have to own both a PS3 and a Vita.  The Vita itself retails for $250, so buying a Wii U for as low as $299.99 is a great deal considering it’s “competition”.  Only time will tell us which one works best.
