Review: Escape the Virus: Shoot ‘Em Up! (DSiWare)

You may remember those times when you are sick on a school or workday. The good thing is that you get to stay home, right? The downside well… you’re sick, of course! But little did you know, inside of you your DNA was fighting off the virus shooting every disease cell it possibly can. Well, that’s how Escape the Virus: Shoot ‘Em Up! explains it. So, is this game really worth downloading when there are like, literally hundreds of other games on the Nintendo eShop/Nintendo DSi Shop? That’s what I plan to help you decide.  Continue reading to find out!

When I downloaded this game, I had expectations for it to be a pretty decent game. I turn it on and then I play for a while, and I’m just like, “Um…. what am I supposed to do?”. After awhile I got used to the controls and figured it out, but I still didn’t understand the point of the game. I ended up going to the manual to figure out what I am supposed to do, and get a better understanding of my objective.

There are two modes the first one I will talk about is shooter. In this mode you are supposed to shoot the germs and survive as long as possible. The controls remind me somewhat of the asteroids arcade game. The other mode is territory, in this mode you defend your black holes from the enemies and you only get points from defending your hole.

There really isn’t that much else to say about this game. Escape the Virus: Shoot ‘Em Up! is not the best game on the eShop but $1.99 is not too much to try it out. I guess this game is only meant for certain people, and like Greg Boe said in the past, “We can’t be biased about our reviews”.  Well, that’s really true because if you’re completely honest, that’s what helps the developers make the games better.
