We’ve all been separated from a group we were traveling with at one point or another, whether it be a momentary loss of contact from our parents when we were only five, or if our friends left Spain without us on an out of country adventure. Bird Mania 3D is a game based on that scenario, except you’re a bird. The real question is “Is this game worth the money you spend?”, and I intend to answer that question. Bird Mania 3D is a very simple one. It’s basically a mini-game, rather than a full game. The game is based around a young bird, named Mojo, who was left behind when his group flew South to Africa for winter. You must rejoin your group by flying quickly, dodging trees and bees, and ramming enemy birds. There are a lot of ways to die that you wouldn’t expect to kill you in the first place. Just a hint, avoid the trees.
There are only two methods of control, an up and down control for dodging controlled by the touch pad, the Circle Pad, or the + control pad. The ability to rush is controllable by the L and R buttons, which let’s you hit other birds to get score multipliers. This is a very limited control set, and it quickly becomes tiresome, leaving you yearning for more game than is presented.
The gameplay is very laid back. Again, the simple controls make it a very one-dimensional game. Also, for those of you that like storyline, this game has five sentences of story that you have to search for in order to find it. There is no end to the game, so it is simply a high-score scenario. Many find this to make a wonderful game, still others find it tiring and wish for a greater goal.
Bird Mania 3D is not one of the games that you really yearn to play, or that you would want to tell your friends about. However, it can be very addictive. It is like one of the iOS games that you download and let sit in with all the other apps until you get stuck on a bus or a train and have to wait several hours with no internet connection. However, many people may find this game, with its simple gameplay and cartoon graphics, rather interesting and fun. At the same time, it is not a game that many would flock to for hours of fun. And the fact that it is only $1.99 make the game affordable enough to try out to see if it’s your kind of game, but once again, even the cheap price doesn’t cancel out the simplicity of the game.
