Microsoft: Nintendo Wii U Is Basically Another Xbox 360

Phil Spencer (vice president of Microsoft), has recently been interviewed by GamesIndustry International. In this interview, Spencer was asked to share his opinion on the upcoming Nintendo Wii U.  Spencer responded:

“Now they are really making an on-ramp for the back catalog of games that are on 360. It is easy for those games to move over to the Wii U. They’ve moved the buttons around, and they’ve made a controller that feels familiar for 360 gamers, so I get why they are putting those pieces together.”

While this makes a lot of sense, the Nintendo Wii U isn’t just a copy of Microsoft’s Xbox 360. The Nintendo Wii U will have many great features that you can’t find anywhere else, along with exclusive games, including ZombiU, Mass Effect 3: Take Earth Back and Pikmin 3.  What do you think? -Tommy Robinson

I agree ben. There will be alot of ports. but it will be interesting to see what the ports will have thats different than the xbox because of the gamepad. im sure with the ports they could add soem pretty nice game pad features. but most people will stick with the pro controller.

We are all quick to forget how Microsoft tried to bone off their copy product. Anyone remember kinect? At least Nintendo is just copying a controller model (they pretty much all do the same thing anyway), Microsoft ripped off an entire entertainment platform.

I wouldn’t be so quick to say that. the kinect is very different then the wii. It copied the idea of “motion gaming” but it didn’t copy a whole new system. Its unique and different than the Wii. I own a Kinect myself it is pretty different but similar. I still prefer my Wii over kinect. Don’t you remember the PSmove? I think thats pretty pathetic. sony: “lets buy a bunch of Wii controllers and stick a ball on top.” I had my own time with the psmove It is just a clone of the wii controller. I think it was pretty neat to see how different it was but it was not innovative at all and I don’t think honestly anybody Plays it.
