EA Games: A Look Into the Future of Gaming

Game companies are always looking for the next big thing, and any way to make games more attractive to a larger customer base. EA games believes that iOS really has the idea of gaming in general down to a science, in the fact that they allow free access to games, but charge you for special features, such as extra weapons or a more powerful vehicle. According to Peter Moore, COO of EA Games, we are quickly arriving at a point in which all games will be available to everyone (Karl Marx would be proud!), but not exactly equally. In this theoretical plan for gaming, if you want to play some Call of Duty: Time Travel Wars 3 in about 20 years or sooner, all you will have to do is go to the online store, download the game for no cost, and play it as much as you want! However, the game will have extra storyline and weapons that you will not be able to access unless you pay the price. Many will accept these terms and pile out the money from their online account, but many will also play the games without spending a penny, which the investors understand and are willing to accept the loss of payment from these individuals. What do you think about this system? Could it work and be profitable? -Ryan Baxter
