Nintendo Can’t Catch up With Xbox Live and PSN

Sony and Microsoft have been working with online networks on their systems for quite a while now, where the Wii’s online was a bit behind compared to other systems. Nintendo has finally decided to go all the way with the online of the upcoming Wii U, but don’t expect them to win the race right away. According to Nintendo Global President Satoru Iwata:

“I think that what we see in terms of online gaming networks on existing dedicated gaming platforms is not particularly well suited to the approach Nintendo has taken. Therefore, I can’t sit here and say to you that we can very quickly overcome or catch up to other companies, which began to work in the online field from many years ago and have been building these online networks on other platforms, and I don’t think that would be a smart strategy, either.”

This statement is actually quite obvious, seeing that Nintendo is just starting, but maybe a few years from now, Nintendo will be well-known for their superior online network.
