I’m pretty excited for the upcoming release of Code of Princess on the Nintendo 3DS, and not for the reason you think. It was recently announced that the nice folks at Atlus Games were localizing this epic side-scrolling brawler, and you can look forward to the game’s release this Fall. The game was shown off for the very first time in North America at E3 2012 this week, and we’ve written up a preview on it to give you readers a quick look at what you’ll be able to get your hands on this Fall. Aksys Games has published the majority of my favorite game localizations, including Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors for the Nintendo DS. Be sure to stay tuned for more news and a preview on it’s sequel, Virtue’s Last Reward for 3DS, but let’s get back to Code of Princess before someone posts a nasty comment. Code of Princess is very much reminiscent of Guardian Heroes, and for a reason too; the same team developed both games.
Gameplay-wise, we’ve never seen anything like Code of Princess before on the Nintendo 3DS. You can take on the role of characters like Solange, Ali, and Zozo, and from the level we got to see, you had to take on a number of sentient, hopping turnips and an angry tree. Your attacks range from the Light (B), Heavy (A), and Target (Y) buttons. My favorite character, Solange, wields a giant sword and can easily battle more than one enemy at a time. Where she lacks in clothes (literally), she makes up for with some powerful attacks.
Most of you are already sold on this upcoming release from the picture above, but from the great gameplay, the developers have already proved that there’s more to this game than the pretty faces; Code of Princess is one hell of an explosive hardcore brawling adventure that will bring something new and exciting to the Nintendo 3DS. Expect a review when the game releases this Fall.
