Preview: Assassin’s Creed III (Wii U)

“Those who cannot remember their history are condemned to repeat it.” The words of George Santayana ring true even today, and what better way to teach the young generation of the past than with an incredibly violent video game? The Assassin’s Creed series has taken us across the world and across time, improving the experience with each visit. Now we’re given an entirely new adventure in Assassin’s Creed III. Will this title follow the incredible system set by previous games? Continue reading to find out! -Ryan Baxter

The story in Assassin’s Creed III revolves around a half British, half Native American named Connor during the American Revolutionary War. As you can imagine, this presents a bit of a problem. The game follows the war, with you being quite an important part of it. You must sneak through highly populated cities without being detected, as well as sneak through legions of armies in the wilderness.

Assassin’s Creed III brings many new features. For example, buildings are set up so that you can walk through them. Though this may seem simple, it adds a whole new side to the game. Also, a new assortment of weapons are to be added, including tomahawks and muskets. To add a Native American twist to the game, hunting was implemented. The pelt can be harvested off of fallen animals, and depending on how the animal died, the pelt will be in different conditions.

The game will certainly be gory, and not one you would want to show to your parents or your kids. The huge battle scenes will show every bit of death you could put in the game, as this is one of the bloodiest battles in history. Also, it is expected you can aid either side, as your main goal  is to assassinate a target, not sway the battles one way or the other. Ultimately, brains will fly and head will roll, and in the end, both sides shall be covered in red.

The past games have set a high bar, and based on all the hype, gamers are expecting a lot. There will surely be a lot of parkour attacks involved in the game, and you will feel incredible sneaking through densely populated civilizations. In the end, there is simply you and your mark, and that is an eternal struggle. Assassin’s Creed III is sure to bring joy to all of our hearts when this game leaps onto our Wii U systems.
